This interactive Story Map documents the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Darfur’s displacement camps following the outbreak of conflict in Sudan. Developed through the MIT PKG Fellowship in partnership with the Sudan Human Rights Hub, the project combines geospatial analysis, open-source investigation, and narrative storytelling to reveal patterns of destruction, displacement, and resilience.

Midanik Movement
Documentation of Sexual Gender-based Violence

Co-founded to advocate for justice and accountability in Sudan, the Midanik Movement has led groundbreaking documentation of human rights violations, particularly during the June 3, 2019 sit-in in Khartoum. The team conducted over 130 interviews and utilized open-source intelligence (OSINT) methods to verify incidents of violence and gender-based abuse, producing one of the most comprehensive civilian-led reports to date.

Sudan Utopia
Drone-Based Reforestation in Sudan
